In view of the health situation, the event was broadcast live on Instagram and Facebook. For the second year in a row, the Stars Up Festival, a festival about space and the stars, was planned to take place on October 3 at the Meudon Observatory. Digital seminar on the stars

Once again ATAWA was at the centre of a special event: the second edition of the Space Festival in Meudon in October 2020 at the Centre d'art et culture. Due to the health situation, the event was broadcast live on Instagram and Facebook.

An unprecedented event in the context of the health crisis

For the second consecutive year, the Stars Up Festival, a festival about space and stars, was scheduled to take place on October 3rd at the Meudon Observatory. This event aims at gathering many scientific speakers and other speakers who popularize their research or simply evoke their passion: the stars.

Atawa participated in the organisation of the previous edition with the installation of ephemeral structures, lighting and sanitary cabins in the park of the Observatoire de Meudon. In 2020, the festival will once again take place outdoors with the installation of a large stage, a giant screen, a tented village, a refreshment bar, hot air balloons...

However, as the health situation prevented any gathering of people, a solution had to be found in order not to endanger the volunteers, organisers, speakers and viewers.
The organiser and Atawa therefore decided to hold the event in 4 sessions with a limited audience of 200 people and to transform the festival into a virtual event in the form of a TV set broadcast live on the internet.
A whole system of video recording, but also lighting, decoration and sound were put in place to bring the conference room to life and make the virtual festival a unique and interactive moment.

A live broadcast on social networks open to all

The various conferences and round tables were filmed and then shared in stream thanks to a complete device of high quality captation: from the cameras, to the video return and monitoring, and the sound recording. In addition, a technical control room was also set up to show the various presentations, films and animations throughout the festival, all orchestrated by a topper.

The latter were projected onto a large 15m2 LED wall screen, in order to fully immerse the public in the starry atmosphere of the event.

With the aim of reaching the widest possible audience, the organisers had to choose the most suitable broadcasting platform. They naturally opted for live streaming on the Facebook and Instagram networks. Atawa therefore carefully installed a broadcast encoder to link the stream of images from the cameras to the social networks. As the festival was held throughout the day, the live stream was available on computers as well as on mobile devices.

A successful digital festival thanks to exceptional speakers and technical team

Thanks to the excellent 4G connection, it was possible to have star specialists on the other side of the world, such as astrophysicist Hubert Reeves, speak in duplex. Many well-known personalities took part in the live conferences, such as Eric Sera and Valérie Pecresse.

In addition, the entire virtual event went off without a hitch thanks to Atawa's mobilisation of a crack field team: a set technician, two cameramen, a director, a sound engineer and a technician were on hand to make viewers dream and give them a unique magical experience.
